We at Asmir Begovic Foundation are very happy to be able to contribute to the development of Mary Hare School for deaf children, the UK’s largest non-maintained special school.

Asmir visited the school and spent the time with wonderful kids and staff at the Mary Hare School, presenting them with a donation worth £10,000 to help raise funds to refurbish the school’s swimming pool and changing facilities which are in urgent need of renovation.

Mary Hare School for deaf children is located in Newbury, Berkshire and educates some 230 children from all over the UK. The vast majority of pupils board here, their family homes being too far away to attend as day pupils. This year, the School is celebrating 70 years since it was named in memoriam of its founder, Miss Mary Hare.

The planned refurbishment will include the installation of a replacement roof structure, the extension and improvement of the poolside area to allow a spectator area and the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the School’s sole existing changing area to allow separate changing areas for both outdoor and indoor sports. All aspects of the refurbishment will ensure full disabled access, including the installation of a submersible platform lift.
