Project Update

Our local project is the Redgate Clayton Football Club which was established back in 1985 and has a very loyal and supportive following in the local community.

They had wanted to upgrade facilities ( changing rooms / toilets) so that children could once again not only train at the ground but also the club could re-instate the Sunday league games for the under 6’s under 9’s and 11 + teams.

On Sunday 23rd November The Asmir Begovic Foundation managed to realise this project for Redgate Clayton FC when we presented to the club chairmen a cheque for £10,000 which will allow work to begin on phase one of the project.

Mjedenica is a school on a street of the same name in in the old part of Sarajevo. It works with children with special needs, from infant to secondary-school age. It was established in 1947 and managed to continue it’s work throughout the war. About 80 children attend the school, some on a fully residential basis. Education focuses on preparation for later life, and integration of children into the wider community through visits, performances and competitions is very important.

The sports facilities at the school are limited to a small indoor sports hall, there are no outdoor facilities. Our goal is to build a multi-purpose outdoor facility at the school, for the children to enjoy themselves and practice many different sports.

Thanks to the funds raised from our Gala Dinner in September we were able donate the full £10,000 required to complete this project. Work began almost immediately and they hope to complete the construction work in Spring 2015. We will also be able to provide additional sports equipment for all the children and additional items such as wheelchairs for the disabled children.
